Author Spotlight: Award-winning multi-genre author Claire Buss

I’m featuring my friend Claire Buss today, a talent who, besides being a mom of two kids and an award-winning author, co-manages the Sparkly Badgers Facebook author group and weekly Twitter hour.

Claire is a multi-genre writer and poet based in the UK. She wanted to be Lois Lane when she grew up but work experience at her local paper was eye-opening. Instead, Claire went on to work in a variety of admin roles for over a decade but never felt quite at home. An avid reader, baker and Pinterest addict Claire won second place in the Barking and Dagenham Pen to Print writing competition in 2015 with her debut novel, The Gaia Effect, setting her writing career in motion. She continues to write passionately and is hopelessly addicted to cake.

Her newest book, Tales from the Seaside, is a humorous collection of short stories reflecting on life by the seaside, attempts to successfully wrangle two small children and the result of being inspired by the sun, the sand and the sea. The perfect beach read, it will have you chuckling in your deckchair.

***

I loved this book! It’s chock-full of feelgood stories, laugh-out-loud funny stories, and stories you can relate to. It’s a great addition to your summer reading list!

I asked Claire because I was curious and, yes, she did take the front cover photo herself and, yes, she did throw an ice cream cone on the ground and almost couldn’t bring herself to do it. I don’t blame her!

I also highly recommend her novel The Gaia Effect, which won the Uncaged Books 2017 Raven Award for Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy Book. Check out my review here.
