Happy Halloween! I hope you’re getting into the spooky spirit. I’ve been playing Fortnitemares, and am enjoying hunting zombies! That counts as self-care, right?
What’s your favorite scary novel?
I’ve also been reading a ton. My favorite scary book (so far) is Salem’s Lot by Stephen King. It’s long but once you get into it, it is unputdownable. The book’s introduction by King includes this quote: “Salem’s lot is one of my best books, one of the scariest also. So, turn off the TV and let’s talk about vampires in the shadow. I think I can make you believe they exist.”
Let me tell you. First, a story about vampires who infiltrate a small town, Salem’s Lot is a fantastic horror novel. It’s also about faith and consciousness, and doing what must be done. The story leads you to a satisfying conclusion. It also led me to want to sleep with a crucifix and holy water on my bedside table. It may be best not to read it while you’re alone.
What is your favorite horror novel? I’m always looking for recommendations!
