Writing Tip Wednesdays: Reedsy – A phenomenal platform for writers

Today I want to tell you about Reedsy, a website chock full of great FREE resources for authors.

On the Reedsy blog site, you will find a ton of helpful articles such as The Ultimate Guide to KDP: How to Succeed on Kindle Direct Publishing and The Best Free Book Cover Makers (and a Few Paid Ones). One of my favorite articles on the blog that has helped me recently was The Back of a Book Cover: How to Build One That Actually Works (with Template).

Check out the Learning site where you’ll find tons of FREE courses such as a recent one that I took, The Non-Sexy Business of Writing Non-Fiction.

I also recommend subscribing to Reedsy’s Youtube site, where you’ll find video tutorials on everything from how to write a scene to how to organize your nonfiction draft to how to launch a book. These videos are short and to the point, packed with great information.

I highly recommend that you sign up to get regular emails from Reedsy. Creating an account on reedsy.com also gives you access to the Reedsy Book Editor, which is a FREE tool that allows you to convert your document into a print-ready manuscript, as well as into mobi, ePub, and PDF files. This tool will save you tons of money. The first time I self-published a book, I hired a company to convert my Word manuscript into print, mobi, and ePub format, to the tune of $800. Using the tool is straightforward and saves you a ton of money, which you can divert to other investments such as book promotions.

As if all that weren’t enough, check out the Tools section on reedsy.com, and you will find curated lists of writing contests, book review sites, and book promotion sites, among other things!

For new authors, there is SO MUCH information out there, and everyone seems to be selling you the next best method for writing a bestselling book or for how to instantly become a millionaire. If there is only one site you consult for writing and promotion, make it Reedsy. You can’t go wrong with them. (*And No, I am not affiliated with Reedsy and do not get anything in return for promoting them. I have found the site incredibly useful and would like to share it with you).

As always, if you have any questions please email me on maria@lawschoolheretic.com.

Happy Writing!
