Happy Friday! Here’s a short video I recorded last week with parenting tips on how to motivate your Gemini child to help at home.
As I discuss in my upcoming book, Your Gemini Child, Gemini children generally have an optimistic, carefree, humorous outlook on life. They detest bills and drudgery and hate rote, non-intellectual tasks.
So, how do you motivate them to help you with chores at home?
In this video I share tips on how to do just that, including:
- Do not treat chores as abhorrent, soul-sucking activities. Do not even call them “chores.” Call them “tasks” or something similar. Make chores as positive and fun as possible by taking the opportunity to bond with your Gemini child and talk to him about what is going with him.
- Do not use chores as punishment. Chores are things we need to do to help the family team at home. They are NOT punishment. You want to motivate children to help by associating “chores” with family bonding time and positive memories, as much as possible.
- Make chores easily doable by giving your Gemini child a short list of, say, three or four things to do. Do not overwhelm him. If you do, he will shut down.
- Appeal to your Gemini child’s need for freedom and independence by giving him a short list of tasks and allowing him to plan his day, including when he does his chores.
